Ceaprove

CeaProve® is a new and dramatically different test for the fast, accurate, and easy point-of-care detection screening of pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. CeaProve® may also be used to determine dosage levels for diabetes oral therapy and to monitor the condition of pre-diabetes.

CeaProve® is a standardized test meal in the form of calibrated wafers made from a patent protected blend of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins using Ceapro’s own oat ingredient technology. The product contains exactly 50g of dextrose (glucose).

CeaProve® has been used in clinical studies for the determination of post-meal blood glucose responses and insulin levels. How It Works

AccuscreenCeaproveStep 1: FAST overnight (nothing to eat or drink except water)

Step 2: TEST fasting blood sugar by obtaining a finger prick blood sample and analyze using a portable, hand-held glucose meter

Step 3: EAT all of the CeaProve® wafers within 10 minutes with a large glass of water

Step 4: WAIT 60 minutes. Timing begins with the first bite of wafer.

Step 5: TEST post-meal blood sugar by obtaining a second finger prick blood sample and analyze using a portable, hand-held glucose meter

 

 

 

CeaProve® provides a glucose load needed to identify the earliest stage of diabetes development - impaired glucose tolerance or pre-diabetes - the earliest time point where  potential for complications (especially cardiovascular disease) begins.

The inventor of CeaProve® is Dr. Thomas Wolever from the University of Toronto. Dr. Wolever is well-known in the scientific community for his research into the glycemic index of foods or the degree to which foods raise blood glucose.

Clinical studies have shown that CeaProve® is a more palatable alternative to the glucose drink with improved sensitivity for pre-diabetes detection and the added advantage of less variation in results attributed to the solid, mixed meal format of the test.

These attributes of improved palatability and reproducibility versus the glucose drink, make CeaProve® an ideal tool for point-of-care testing.
